Unitex Seil-Baur GmbH

The origin of the company dates back to Abraham Vaisin – the founder of the company Seil-Baur – on October 23, 1851, in Augsburg. His successors, Sebastian and Georg Gollinger, practiced their craft with other rope makers from Augsburg at the “Vierziger-Wiese,” which is still documented today as Seilerstraße. Hans Baur Sr. acquired the company from the Gollinger brothers and moved production, office spaces, and the retail shop to Göggingen in 1944.

Together with his son Hans Baur Jr., he expanded the production program of the traditional rope manufacturing business: In addition to fiber and wire ropes, drive belts for engraving and milling machines were also produced.

From 1972 to 1988, Hans Baur Jr. not only significantly advanced the development of the drive belt division, but he also expanded the product line for lifting equipment with his own patents. Under his leadership, Seil-Baur gained international recognition as a guarantor of quality and safety with DRESBA® flat belts and WT lifting straps.

With the relocation to the Lechhausen industrial area and the construction of a modern manufacturing facility, Seil-Baur took the step toward becoming a modern industrial company with optimized processes for production and administration in September 1993.

Today, 30 employees work on approximately 10,000 square meters of land. The development of new product lines is just as much a focus as the continuous improvement of quality management. Feel free to visit us for a brief company presentation!
